The hockey season is back, and it was a great night on Wednesday for fans of the Vancouver Canucks, who watched their team open the new campaign in style, beating Edmonton 8-1.

As the game was going on, however, a fight was taking place in the stands of the lower bowl at Rogers Arena between Oilers and Canucks fans.

It's unclear what caused the fight, but footage of the scuffle between fans was posted on X, formerly Twitter. The video below shows an Oilers fan trying to get at a Canucks fan, but thankfully there is someone in between trying to prevent that from happening. Eventually, more fans started to join in, with a Canucks fan coming up from behind and trying to take on the Oilers fan in the Connor McDavid jersey.

Cooler heads would eventually prevail after about 45 seconds once police inside Rogers Arena showed up before the video cuts out.

Fights between fans, especially inside the arena while the game is going on, but anywhere in general, are ridiculous and unnecessary. There were several kids and families in the vicinity of the fight, too, as can be seen in the video, who were just trying to enjoy a night out at the Canucks game.
