Drance absolutely lost it on air after they received a text from a fan
Thomas Drance is a renowned writer at The Athletic and he mainly covers the Vancouver Canucks, he also co-hosts Canucks Talk on Sportsnet 650. Friday he lost it at a fan after a text they received.
He was on Canucks Talk alongside Jamie Dodd this Friday and this whole argument started with him commenting on a text they received while on the show :
''It's pretty hard to win when you don't have your number one goaltender, everybody understands that except the media."
He continued by listing teams that had been successful this year without their number-one goaltender and made a fair point since many teams currently in playoff contention lost their top netminder for a good amount of time. The text didn't stop there and Drance's rant kept on going.
The text coming from the fan stated that the Canucks didn't need a rebuild, they just needed their goalie back in shape to be competitive. He believes that the Canucks are close and asked the two hosts, how they could not see that? That's when Drance explores :
"YOU ARE TERRIBLY WRONG! Never say things like this in public again. It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Awful takes. I'm embarrassed for you."
It's no secret that the Canucks have been highly relying on their netminders, as we've been witnessing for most of the last two years. Now who's right in this take, are the Canucks competitive enough when Demko is healthy? Do they need to consider a full rebuild?
