The newcomer, Carson Soucy. Soucy signed a 3-year deal at 3.25 per year. Last season, Soucy registered 16 points in 68 games and was a +16 with the Kraken.
The Minnesota Wild's 5th-round pick is a solid and dependable defenseman. He will suit Hughes and his offensive game very well. The 6'5 defenseman can be counted on to block shots and hit while holding his own in the offensive end.
Quinn Hughes has had some very productive offensive years. There had been some thoughts that he could be matched with Soucy; however,, Tocchet wishes to stick with what worked last season.
According to Sartaaj Bhullar, Canucks writer, Vancouver's group A defensive pairings consist of Cole and Hronek, Brisebois and Myers, Wolanin and Woo, and finally, Mynio and Brzustewicz.
The Canucks will look to have some players develop and nail down pairings that will be used during the season.

It wouldn't be a surprise if this top didn't budge until the season opener. Could Soucy and Myers end up being used as the 3rd shutdown pairing? We'll have to wait a little longer to know where we're headed.
