HOT | Canucks had interest in a right-handed defenseman and he'll be free this summer
The Canucks are in desperate need of help for their defense. They've repeated on multiple occasions that they wanted to improve their right side and a golden opportunity may be presenting itself over the summer.
Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal revealed that the Canucks had previously been interested in acquiring the New Jersey Devils' right-hand shot defenseman Damon Severson.
Severson was a 2nd Round Pick in 2012. He's 6'2'' and weighs a little over 200 pounds. During the 2021-2022 campaign, he registered a career high in points with 46 over 80 games.
The Devils have recently drafted a highly touted prospect in Sinon Nemec and they may not require Severson next season. His current deal carries a $4.16M AAV but he will hit the free agency market when comes July 1st, should the Canucks take a run at him?
