LATEST | Thomas Drance finally speaks positively of Canucks early season success
Canucks writer, Thomas Drance, spoke highly of the Canucks early season play alongside Sportsnet 650 co-host Jamie Dodd.
On their new show that aired today, Drance said that he felt the Canucks played well despite some analytics that suggest they are not playing to their best potential.
Drance said, "The analytics argument against the Canucks right now...(Is not) a convincing one..."
Drance continues, "...What happens when you're constantly leading...two things...desperate teams throw pucks on the net...looking for bounces...they shoot at a higher volume...the other thing that happens is teams start to take risks and some of those are reckless..."
To Drance's point, the Canucks are playing excellent hockey right now and are mostly playing with the lead, which could be the main reason their analytics may not be the highest. We will see how the Canucks continue to play as the season moves along.
The Canucks are back at it on Thursday against the Ottawa Senators in an all-Canadian match-up.
