We're now just over one week away from one of the most exciting and surprising times in hockey: the NHL's trade deadline.

Although it's been quiet of late, we've already seen some massive trades including the Canucks trading captain Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders.

The Canucks are believed to be very active still, already making defenceman Luke Schenn a healthy scratch ahead of tonight's game vs the Nashville Predators. Hockey Insider David Pagnotta would chime in on Social media, sharing the latest on various trade discussions saying:

"As we wait on the Gavrikov and Schenn situation to unfold, I'm told the Oilers may be out (for now) on Erik Karlsson due to money.

No recent Edmonton/San Jose talks. The Canucks are willing to retain/acquire money to gain draft picks."

Pagnotta would suggest the Canucks might get involved in a three-way trade to help make moves happen, that's if it makes sense for the Canucks getting something back in return.
