The San Jose Sharks have been getting plenty of calls of late regarding Sharks sniper Timo Meier. The 26-year-old is having a good season statistics wise with 31 goals and 21 assists on the year so far, and the Sharks are looking to move Meier ahead of deadline day.
Hockey Insider Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff would reveal that the Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, Winnipeg Jets and St Louis Blues are interested in acquiring Meier services.
What makes the former 9th overall 2015 pick so much more valuable is Meier is a pending RFA, not UFA at the end of this season, meaning if you acquire Meier now you still have him in the off-season and then could either re-sign him or trade him for an asset in return.
Not very often do you get a player like Meier with his status and contract flexibility, this could be a definite game changer for what ever team acquires him.
