TRADE SUGGESTION | Canucks find cap space and capitalize on Brock Boeser's value
The Blue Jackets have already made it abundantly clear that they'd be targeting a centerman in the next draft, most likely one of Leo Carlsson, Adam Fantilli, or Will Smith with their 3rd overall pick.
In an attempt to deepen their strengths down the wings, the Canucks could grow into a trade partner since the Jackets also have cap room. Brock Boeser has been involved in his fair share of trade talks and with his late-season surge, the winger could be a prolific addition to the Blue Jackets roster.
The Canucks could meet two of their needs in this trade as they aim to add a centerman and shed cap space:
TO COLUMBUS
- Brock Boeser ($6.65M AAV x 2 years)
TO VANCOUVER
- Jack Roslovic ($4.0M AAV x 1 year)
- 2025 3rd Round Selection
Roslovic is a natural centerman who was originally drafted by the Winnipeg Jets. Only 26, he's developed into an established NHLer but has yet to reach the full extent of his offensive potential. He's produced 89 points over his last two seasons (158 games) and could very well be what the Canucks are looking for.
The Canucks could be filling two needs in this trade, as they'd be shedding some money off their books while adding a centerman. Roslovic only has a year remaining on his deal after which he'll be a free agent will full autonomy.
