Why isn't Kyle Burroughs playing?!

We've seen a snapshot of Jack Rathbone, Riley Stillman has been played to what most call a point of futility & Quinn Hughes has been over worked so heavily that the former Calder candidate is in & out of the lineup.

The strange part of this, is that 2 of the most solid defensemen the Canucks's have seen sample sizes from over the past season, or the preseason, simply can't see the ice.

Kyle Burroughs & Christian Wolanin have watched a lot of hockey this year, well the latter has spent time in Abbotsford where at least Wolanin is getting some game action. Burroughs is watching NHL hockey games that he could be affecting the outcome of. He's fleet of foot, has a good hockey sense and, more often than not, isn't a liability on the ice.

Tell me with a straight face that you could say the same about any of the other defenders not named Quinn.

In Wolanin, you have not only a player who showed in the preseason he's got some offensive flair but he also has NHL bloodlines with his father Craig spending 15 years in the NHL with over half of them coming in Canadian markets. This is a kid who should be getting a look.

Burroughs should be getting a lot more than 'a look'.

This is a man who should be eating up 14-17 minutes per night & sharing his willingness to get dirty, drop the gloves & also be responsible in his own end in hopes it rubs off on his teammates.

Puck drop is at 4pm today as the Canucks' begin the second of 2 back to backs on this road trip with a stop at the ScotiaBank Centre in Toronto. We will have lineup news & potential roster moves as soon as the game day skate concludes.
