Meredith Gaudreau has released a statement following the passing of Johnny.
The hockey world continues to mourn the passing of
Columbus Blue Jackets forward
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, who was also a professional hockey player for a number of years.
Tributes have poured in from everywhere in the hockey community and on Saturday morning, the person closest to Johnny, his wife Meredith, shared a pair of posts on social media in tribute.
In her first post, she thanked Johnny for the best years of her life and shared how much she loved him. The post featured photos from Johnny's 31st birthday, which was just over two weeks ago.
"Thank you for the best years of my life. Despite losing you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you so so much. You were perfect. Some days it felt too good to be true. I love every single thing about you. You are my forever and I can't wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever"
Meredith's second post shared how great of a father was to their two children, Noa and Johnny.
"The absolute best dad in the world. So caring and loving. The best partner to go through parenthood with. John never missed a single appointment. Was the best at putting the baby to sleep and the Apple of Noa's eye. I love how much she looks like him. We are going to make you proud. We love you so so so much daddy."
Meredith Gaudreau said.
The thoughts of everyone at Canucks Daily continue to be with the Gaudreau family, along with Johnny and Matthew's friends and teammates at this difficult time.
