The Buffalo Sabres announced a late Friday night deal with the Anaheim Ducks. The confirmation just came in that Ilya Lyubushkin had been sent to the Anaheim Ducks for a 4th Round Draft pick:
It appears that the Sabres may be trying to shed some cap in hopes that they could bring a superstar home (Patrick Kane 🤔🤔🤔). Lyubushkin carries a $2.75M cap hit through the end of the season, and it just made a Tyler Myers trade to the Ducks less likely.
The Ducks have loads of cap space, but they just added another right-handed shot defenseman, as they already have Radko Gudas and Jamie Drysdale.
While a team has been taking off the board as a possible destination for Tyler Myers, the fact that the Sabres were able to move Lyubushkin without any negative repercussions gives hope that the Canucks could find a suitor for Myers if they retained 50% of his salary. Could we hope for a similar return?
