CANUCKS AND FLAMES TO LINK UP AGAIN?
On the other side of things, the Flames. Their season hasn't taken the direction they were anticipating and with lots of expiring deals, they may be headed toward a sell-off and the Canucks could be the benefactors.
A trade proposal has been circulating on social medias suggesting that the Canucks could be adding Chris Tanev and one of the Flames' top forward Elias Lindholm. With Andrei Kuzmenko, who can't seem to get his game going under Rick Tocchet, the Canucks may have the piece needed to make a block buster happen:
While the Canucks would be parting ways with an excellent goalscorer, they'd be landing an elite two-way forward in Elias Lindholm and a right-handed shot warrior in Chris Tanev. Lindholm is currently having a down season, just like most of the Flames' players, but he's shown that he can be a point-per-game producer while being a Selke Trophy nominate.
The one thing that could cause an issue, would be that both Tanev and Lindholm are on expiring contracts and bound to be unrestricted free agents by the end of the season. Unless an extension is in place with Lindholm, there is no way it'd be worth spending this much for a rental.
If Allvin somehow manages to convince the Flames to trade once again, this is the type of deal that can make you a contender for years to come, as long as your contracts are managed right.
