Through the years, the restricted free agents have begun taking control of the narrative, as we've seen with the Matthew Tkachuk deal and most recently with Pier-Luc Dubois.
At this point, there are no reports suggesting that Elias Pettersson would want out of Vancouver. After seeing how it went with Tkachuk and Dubois, the trade proposals for the Canucks 100-points player have been flying around and this crazy proposal was based off a deal with the Montreal Canadiens:
To Vancouver
- Kirby Dach
- Juraj Slafkovsky
- Filip Mesar
- Jordan Harris
- 2024 1st Round Selection Vancouver
- 2025 1st Round Selection Calgary
To Montreal
- Elias Pettersson
- Jack Rathbone
While trading Pettersson should be seen as a very last resort alternative, this sure is an interesting deal to package for the Swede Superstar.
Dach, 3rd Overall Pick in 2019, really showed the full extent of his game this year in Montreal where he managed 38 points in 58 games. 6'4'' right-handed centerman who has the ability to grow into a game breaking player. Add to that Juraj Slafkovsky, the 2022 first overall and Filip Mesar who went later in the 1st Round.
This would be a good opportunity to load up on assets and start on new bases. However, as good as this offer may be, you don't trade a player with Pettersson's stature unless he asks out.
