While Jake Guentzel is currently injured, he's one of the most sought after players in the NHL ahead of the trade deadline.
ESPN's Emily Kaplan says it's likely that Guentzel is moved but the Penguins are set on a price for their sniper, and it's a big one.
I've heard the asking price on Guentzel is multiple first-round picks (or a first-round pick and equivalent in top prospects or roster players). One rival executive said "the Guentzel asking price is ridiculous,"
Kaplan wrote.
The Canucks are one of the contenders that have the pieces to make such a deal if they want.
Players like Elias Pettersson (the defenceman), Tom Willander, and Jonathan Lekkerimäki would be of interest in a deal for Guentzel, as well as the team's 2025 first rounder.
With the Canucks already moving a first and top prospect for Elias Lindholm earlier this year, it may be too rich of a price for yet another rental - not to mention there's no clarity on when he will return from injury.
If they really want to go all in though, Vancouver could make a play for the two time 40 goal scorer.
