LATEST | Insider gives update on Canucks' interest in top-six forward
The Vancouver Canucks have been linked to numerous forwards over the last few weeks as they look to add to their top-six ahead of the trade deadline in March.
One of the names they've been linked to is Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm, who could be on his way out of Alberta and is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
On Saturday, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period shared that Lindholm IS on the radar of the Vancouver Canucks and could be a prime rental addition to the top-six forward group.
Pagnotta also mentioned that another player the Canucks have interest in, Jake Guentzel, might not be moved by the Penguins if the team is still in the playoff race and that it wouldn't go over very well with Sidney Crosby and Pittsburgh's ownership if they do trade him.
"With all the talk in Vancouver surrounding the Canucks' interest in Jake Guentzel, it wouldn't be shocked if they focus on a second-line centre, instead. If Pittsburgh stays in the playoff race, moving Guentzel might not fly too well with captain Sidney Crosby and Penguins ownership even in a walk-year. Elias Lindholm is on their radar and could be a prime rental addition." Pagnotta said.
Lindholm, a native of Boden, Sweden, has appeared in 48 games this season for the Flames, putting up 31 points (eight goals, 23 assists), 21 penalty minutes and is a minus-eight. While he's not anywhere near the level he has been at the last few seasons, bringing him into a potent Canucks lineup would certainly help him regain his form and could give the Canucks another option for the first powerplay unit.
