LATEST | Red Wings' David Perron set to receive lengthy suspension for cross-check
A scary scene unfolded in Detroit on Saturday night as Red Wing captain Dylan Larkin laid motionless on the ice after getting hit in the neck and the jaw at the same time by a pair of Ottawa Senators.
After seeing his captian laying on the ice, Red Wings forward David Perron took matters into his own hands and went at the closest Senator around - Artem Zub.
Perron crossed the lined quite a bit, delivering a dangerous cross-check to Zub in the head. For his actions, Perron was handed a match penalty and ejected from the remainder of the game.
On Sunday, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced that Perron will have an in-person hearing, which means he could be looking at a suspension of more than five games in length.
"Detroit's David Perron has been offered an in-person hearing for cross-checking Ottawa's Artem Zub. Date and time TBD."
