The Vancouver Canucks pursuit of a top-six forward will be heating up in the coming weeks as we approach this season's trade deadline, which is set for Friday, March 8th at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET.

There have been many names suggested that the Canucks should look into and one of those players is Sean Monahan of the Montreal Canadiens, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The Canadiens were hoping to deal Sean Monahan last season, especially after his strong start to the 2022-23 campaign, but in December he suffered an injury and didn't play again. Kent Hughes and the Canadiens ultimately brought Monahan back on a one-year deal for the 2023-24 campaign and will get plenty of interest on him before March 8th.

While it's been unclear how much it would cost to acquire Monahan, we now know, thanks to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period. Pagnotta is reporting that it will cost a first-round pick or a second-round pick and a prospect to bring Monahan in.

"The price for Monahan (24 points, $1.985M cap hit) is a first-round pick or second-round pick and a prospect." Pagnotta said.

Monahan, 29, has appeared in all 42 of Montreal's games so far this season and has put up 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists), ten penalty minutes and is a minus-eight.
