Training camps are always a place for surprises and the latest example of it is the most recent statement the Ottawa Senators released.

The NHL waivers opened yesterday and there's been ton of activity since then. The Canucks had Spencer Martin taken from them and they may have the opportunity to do just the same tomorrow:

''Roster update: The #Sens have completed the following transactions, cont.

Players placed on waivers for the purposes of assignment to @BellevilleSens training camp: RW Currie, D Heatherington, RW Pilon, D Thomson.''

Thomson, a right handed shot Defenseman, was the Sens' 1st Round Pick in 2019 and has failed to develop within Ottawa's program. Described to be a two-way Defenseman with strong skating abilities he could very well be a player of interest for the Canucks:

'Skilled two-way defenseman with above average offensive tools. Thomson is a fluid skater and moves the puck well up the ice. Not a bad passer, but stands out more with his slapper from the blue line.''

(EP 2019)

Through 56 AHL games, the 23-year-old Fin collected 33 points.
