Travis Green to return to the NHL in 2024-2025? Offers are lining up
Former Vancouver Canucks head coach Travis Green landed a new NHL job last summer, but it appears he has his sights on a bigger role with another organization.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Travis Green interviewed with the Ottawa Senators recently for their vacant head coaching position and added that he's still a candidate for the job in New Jersey.
"Coaching update: Add Travis Green to the list of candidates to have interviewed with #GoSensGo. It's a loooong list.
Green is still a strong candidate with #njdevils, but as they are interviewing other candidates, it was only fair to allow him to interview elsewhere as well." Seravalli said.
Green, 53, was hired by the New Jersey Devils in June 2023 as an Associate Coach to then-Head Coach Lindy Ruff. In early March, the Devils relieved Lindy Ruff of his duties and named Travis Green Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
The Castlegar, British Columbia native spent parts of five seasons behind the bench for the Vancouver Canucks where he had a record of 133-147-34 in 314 games. In 2020, Green led the Canucks to the second round of the playoffs after beating the Minnesota Wild in the qualifying round and the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues in round one.
It's going to be interesting to see where this goes over the next few months and if Green is able to land a permanent head coaching gig for the 2024-25 campaign.
