In 2011, the Vancouver Canucks selected Corrado with the 150th overall pick in the draft and he went on to appear in 28 games for them across parts of three NHL seasons. Prior to the start of the 2015-16 season, he was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs, who he spent the most time with during his NHL career.
During his interview with The Athletic, Corrado said that he had a rough time playing for then head coach Mike Babcock. According to Corrado, Babcock said in their first meeting 'I have no clue who you are' and throughout his time in Toronto, he would suffer panic attacks and anxiety.
While he's one of the most successful coaches since the turn of the century, Babcock's maltreatment of players has been well noted by those in the hockey community. Some of this includes making Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner rank his teammates' effort level and sharing it with the rest of the team.
Then last year, he was hired by the Columbus Blue Jackets to become their new head coach but never appeared behind the bench for them after allegations came to light that he violated players' privacy during meetings in the off-season. It's safe to say that Mike Babcock likely won't be getting another opportunity to coach in the National Hockey League for a very long time.
