In the team's first two games before being shutout by the Flyers, Pettersson was arguably the Canucks' best forward after putting up six points (one goal, five assists), which earned him second Star of the Week honours from the National Hockey League.
Many are beginning to take notice of the Canucks and their strong start, including the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, which made a pretty big claim regarding Elias Pettersson.
They said that if the Canucks were to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which would be the first time since 2020, Elias Pettersson would be nominated for the Hart Trophy as the NHL's Most Valuable Player.
Former NHLer Paul Bissonnette also ate his own words in their most recent podcast. Bissonnette admitted that he thought Pettersson would only get somewhere in the $9 million range per season on his next contract but now believes it'll be $11-$11.5 million.
It's certainly great to see that people around the game of hockey are starting to take notice of what the Vancouver Canucks are capable of; now it's up to them to perform well on the ice and to prove to everyone that they can be a playoff team.
