LATEST | Price to re-sign defenceman Tyler Myers revealed: Forcing his way out of Vancouver
While the Vancouver Canucks have their focus on the current season and task at hand, there are certain to be discussions in the coming months regarding some of their pending unrestricted free agents.
Among those who are set to become free agents at the end of the 2023-24 season is 33-year-old defenceman Tyler Myers and some reports are suggesting it may not be cheap to bring him back.
According to Rick Dhaliwal, it could take at least $3-$4 million per season to re-sign Tyler Myers.
"People are out to lunch if they think he's re-signing for 1-2 mill. He wants to stay in Van but will take in the 3-4 mill range (at least)" Dhaliwal said.
Myers made $6 million per season on his current deal and while the expectation was that his salary would go down on his next contract, it's a little surprising to see that it could still cost upwards of $4 million AAV.
The Houston, Texas native is having a good season on the blue line for Vancouver, putting up 18 points (three goals, 15 assists), 28 penalty minutes and is a plus-16 in 41 games.
Given the potential cost being upwards of $3-$4 million AAV on his next contract, should the Canucks bring Tyler Myers back or move on from him this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the poll below!
