After starting the 2024-25 season in the National Hockey League with the Ottawa Senators, Zack MacEwen found himself on waivers in late November and for the most part, has been down in the AHL ever since.
The 28-year-old has played well for the AHL's Belleville Senators in a bottom-six role, registering nine points (five goals, four assists), 23 penalty minutes and is a minus-five.
In an article on the team's official website on Tuesday, the Belleville Senators announced that Zack MacEwen has taken a leave of absence from the club for personal reasons.
The team said that they're committed to supporting Zack MacEwen at this time and will have no further comment on the matter.
The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native signed with the Vancouver Canucks as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of the QMJHL and went on to spend parts of four seasons in the organization.
In 55 games as a Vancouver Canuck, MacEwen had nine points (six goals, three assists), 69 penalty minutes and had an even-rating.
MacEwen's time with the Vancouver Canucks organization came to a close in October 2021 after he was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers, who he spent the next season-and-a-half with before being dealt to the Los Angeles Kings.
Everyone here at Canucks Daily hopes that Zack MacEwen is doing okay and hope to see him back on the ice as soon as he feels ready to return.
