The Vancouver Canucks practiced Monday morning as training camp and preparation for the 2023-24 season continues.

But as the Canucks went through line rushes, a notable name was missing from the ice, with Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 confirming that forward Elias Pettersson was not at practice on Monday morning.

" Elias Pettersson is not on the ice at #Canucks practice." Batchelor said in a post on X.

It's unclear why Elias Pettersson was absent from practice, but we'll likely have to wait until later today or tonight to find out more information from Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet.

Taking Pettersson's spot in the first-line center role was 24-year-old Jack Studnicka, who's been performing quite well throughout training camp and looking to earn a spot on the team's opening night roster.

Here are the lines and defensive pairings from practice on Monday.

"Beauvillier/Mikheyev. Studnicka. Kuzmenko
PDG. Miller. Boeser
Joshua. Suter. Garland
Åman. Blueger. Höglander

Hughes. McWard
Soucy. Hronek
Cole. Myers
Wolanin/Brisebois. Juulsen

Demko
DeSmith"

The Vancouver Canucks will continue their preseason schedule on Wednesday night in Abbotsford, British Columbia against their Pacific Northwest rivals, the Seattle Kraken. The puck drop is set for 7 p.m. PT.
