MAJOR | Wayne Gretzky reveals the crazy story about how he should've gone to the Canucks
Known to this day as the best to play the game of hockey, Wayne Gretzky marked every franchise he's ever played for. From the Oilers to the Rangers, where he ended his career, he helped the NHL gain the notoriety it has today.
The NHL legend and all-time leader in points was on the Spittin Chiclets podcast and revealed that he almost became a Vancouver Canuck and still regrets saying no, as of today.
At the time, Gretzky was the NHL's highest-paid player, earning about 800k/year. The Canucks owner offered the Legend 25% of the team's ownership along with $3M in yearly salary:
After Wayne Gretzky won the Stanley Cup, he was offered 25% of the @Canucks and a considerable raise.
He declined. The rest is history.
This definitely would've been a game-changer in Vancouver. The Canucks could've been looking at a few golden years back then with the NHL's most outstanding player.
