Suspension? - Canucks' Brock Boeser Exits with Injury After Illegal Headshot by Kings Forward Tanner Jeannot
Vancouver Canucks superstar forward Brock Boeser heads down the team tunnel for evaluation after Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot hits him with a dirty hit to the head.
As Boeser collected the puck off the boards, Tanner Jeannot came out of nowhere to run a high, late hit that struck the head of Boeser which sent him down to the ice. As the medial staff rushed to the ice, Boeser stayed down for a few minutes to collect himself. It seems like the injury to Boeser is not too severe, but he has went down the tunnel for further evaluation.
There has been no update on the extent of Boeser's injury, but it has been confirmed by the teams official X account (formally Twitter) that he will not return to the game.
It is most likely that Boeser is being evaluated under concussion protocol, and even if the injury is not too serious, they will not risk having him play through it, especially with the recent announcement about CTE.
Jeannot did receive a major match mentally for the illegal hit and will most likely face supplemental discipline by the league after they deliberate after the conclusion of the Kings/Canucks matchup.
