Conflicting comments on Elias Pettersson: Playing through an injury?
Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson has not played particularly well in the first four games of the team's opening-round playoff series against the Nashville Predators.
Even over the last couple of months, Pettersson hasn't played at the level he did to start the 2023-24 campaign or even last season, when he recorded over 100 points for the first time in his career.
While Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff has shot down rumours that Elias Pettersson is dealing with an injury, new information has come out on Monday regarding the Canucks forward, this time from Rick Dhaliwal.
On Monday's episode of Donnie & Dhali, Rick Dhaliwal shared that he's been told that Canucks forward Elias Pettersson is not 100 percent healthy.
"But I will say he is not 100 percent. I don't think he's 100 percent,, and I've been told he's not 100 percent. It's not a major injury, but he's banged up." Dhaliwal said.
He added, "Do you notice Tocchet never rips Pettersson post-game? Do you know why that is Don? Because he probably knows what's going on behind the scenes, if he's not 100 percent."
Pettersson, 25, has only recorded two assists and three shots on goal through the first four games of their first round series against the Nashville Predators. If he is injured, it'll be interesting to see what's going and if it's upper-body related, especially since he's averaging 0.75 shots-per-game in the playoffs. Sure, that's a small sample size, but compared to his 2.52 shots-per-game in the regular season, it's enough of a dip to be concerned.
The Sundsvall, Sweden native will look to play a big role on home ice on Tuesday night as the Canucks look to eliminate the Nashville Predators and advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
