Derek Forbort ready to return to the Vancouver Canucks after sudden leave of absence, but there's more
It was reported today that defenseman Derek Forbort is ready to return back to the Vancouver Canucks after he took a sudden leave of absence on October 17th.
The report was initially released by Rick Dhaliwal of the Donnie and Dhali - The Team platform, stating that Forbort, who left the team for personal reasons, can be expected to be back with the Canucks in the next couple of days.
It came to much surprise to many Canucks fans that the team announced today that d-man Erik Brannstrom would be reporting back down to the Abbottsford Canucks for the AHL today (October 24th).
According to Canucks Army, "this gives them two roster spots, now, the Canucks could be using their two days off until Saturday vs. Pittsburgh as a chance to accrue some extra cap space, or they could decide that Forbort coming back simply means Brännström's services are no longer needed at the NHL."
As stated above, the move to send to Brannstrom, who has been performing well for the team will most likely get a call back in the coming days as head coach Rick Tocchet gave the young D0man high praise for the way he played against the Chicago Blackhawks.
«I thought this was [Brännström's] best game,» said head coach Rick Tocchet. «I thought he distributed the puck well, he was really good - he skated the puck out. A couple of nice passes. I was pleased with his game tonight, especially on the breakouts.»
