The Vancouver Canucks have been pretty thin of defense all season long with rumors of upgrades coming via trades, but with out Fillip Hronek, Noah Juulsen has really stepped up, possibly earning himself a contract extension.
Led by All-Star forward Brock Boeser, the Vancouver Canucks will have a busy offseason with the amount UFA's on their roster, but one player that is starting to stand out from the rest, and it is not who you think.
The Canucks will enter 2025 with a handful of key pending UFAs on their roster. The most prominent of them is clearly Brock Boeser.
With the injury to Filip Hronek and the think depth on D, Noah Juulsen has proven to step up and show that he can be relied upon by head coach Rick Tocchet, especially in the defensive zone.
At 27-years-old and only making $775K a year (AAV), his contract expires this summer, and as a depth defenseman, the Canucks should look at giving him another opportunity.
If Juulsen is willing to extend his contract for anywhere in the neighbourhood of his current deal - or anything in the range of $1 million per season or below - the Canucks would be wise to ink that right here, right now. - Stephan Roget
