Zach Werenski Claps Back & Shows True Colors Towards Former Teammate Patrik Laine Amid Drama
Furious Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski claps back at Montreal Canadiens forward and former teammate Patrik Laine for his controversial comment made about Columbus.
Ever since Patrik Laine come into the NHL, he has made a major impact on the ice, but has made an equally big impact off the ice, but for all the wrong reasons.
After a long and serious stint on the injured reserve to help heal physical and mental struggles, it was clear that his time was coming to an end with the Columbus Blue Jackets, which eventually led to him to be traded to the Montreal Canadiens this offseason.
Before his first game back against his former team, Patrik Laine decided to throw some shade at the Blue Jackets and their fans, saying that the team is struggling more with out him than with him.
"It's great to see some of the fan base happy to see me happy. For the other ones, I don't really care what you think [...] Hopefully it's positive. If it's not, I really don't care. If guys are going to be pissed off and bitter about something, that's your issue. I'm having a great time regardless, and I don't care what other people are saying [..] It'll be cool to shut 'em down. There's always idiots who do that. Hopefully not the entire building, with everything I did here for the community and for the team. If somebody feels like they want to boo, I feel like they've got bigger issues going on than me coming back here."
Zach Werenski Claps Back at Patrik Laine for Controversial Comments
Zach Werenski took exception to the comments made, clapping back with some words of his own.
"It's unfortunate. You know, I think us guys here and a guy that's been here, we were nothing but good teammates to him, nothing but good friends to him, and for him to bash us like that, I think it's just unacceptable."
For him to come in and say that is ********. Definitely not happy about it and none of us in this room are happy about it. It speaks more about him than it does us."
