J.T. Miller injures Kevin Rooney resulting in a frightening scene on the ice

A frightening scene ensued on the ice as Vancouver Canucks star J.T Miller hammered Calgary Flames forward Kevin Rooney into the boards resulting in an injury that called upon the stretcher.

Serious collision between J.T. Miller and Kevin Rooney resulted in a frightening moment, as Rooney remained prone on the ice for a long period of time.

Stretcher was brought out, but waved off as Rooney skated off with assistance.

Even though the general consensus is that the hit was clean, it is clear that the Flames were gunning for Miller for the rest of the period. What also added fuel to the fire which did no help Millers case was that the Canucks were up 4-1 at the time.

With one minute remaining in the first period, Flames forward Anthony Mantha went after Miller where the obvious outcome was about to be witnessed. With one glance and shove, J.T. answered the bell and dropped the gloves in the 800th game of his NHL career.

Whether or not you like fighting in hockey, it is a part of the game and it allows players to defend themselves and others on their without having to get the referees or league involved.

Yes, the hit may have been clean, but you have to respect one teammate sticking up for another teammate in any situation, and you got to give it up for Miller for not backing down.
