After the tragic events that transpired over the summer, where the hockey world lost brothers Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau, fello undersized forward Cole Caufield made the decision to change his number from #22 to #13 to honour him.
The Canadiens took a power play when Maple Leafs d-man Conor Timmins took a tough slashing penalty against Juraj Slafkovsky. Montreal took control quickly in the offensive zone and Slaf fed a beautiful dish to Caufield, who launched a one-timer past goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
Growing up, and in college, Cole Caufield always wore number 13 for the fact that Gaudreau was his favourite player and inspired him to be an undersized forward in the NHL.
it was a special scene in Montréal when he scored, and I am sure Johnny was looking down on him.
