In last minute breaking news, Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes is on his ways to Boston to join USA just in time to play team Canada In the 4 Nations Face-Off final against Canada.

It was clear that when the Boston Bruins released their statement that defenseman Charlie McAvoy was admitted to the hospital last night and would have to withdraw from the 4 Nations Face-Off final, many wondered who would be replacing him.

One of the biggest disappointments was when Canucks captain Quinn Hughes announced that he would not be playing in the best on best tournament due to an injury leading up to the event.
Quinn Hughes last game was Friday Jan 31 in Dallas. Imagine being thrown into CAN-USA Final after not playing in three weeks and not practicing in that time either. If anyone's up to the challenge, it's #Canucks captain. But what a spot. Also what he's built for.
Although «agonizing» over the decision, he was unavailable fight though the ailment, especially with the Canucks season hanging in the balance.
After 10 days of rest and and the injury to Charlie McAvoy, it was announced by USA head coach Mike Sullivan and confirmed by NHL insider Elliott's Friedman that Quinn Hughes will be joint the team in Boston.

There is one major caveat that add more drama to the story.
According to the rules, in order for Quinn Hughes to play, another member of Team USA must sit out of the final due to an «injury».

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed this fact just moments ago.
According to NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, Quinn Hughes will not be allowed to participate in Team USA activities unless there is another ailment with the current six defencemen.
