The Vancouver Canucks wasted no time in putting pen to paper with new defenseman Marcus Pettersson and he has expressed the very reason why he was so eager to get sign an extension with the team.

He told the media that due to his previous experience with Jim Rutherford who previously served as the General Manager & Executive Vice-President of Hockey Operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins, he knew that he was comfortable to get a deal done so soon.
"It is a big decision. I think a lot for me is the familiarity the management. I've had them before, I know the way they run a team," says Marcus Pettersson when asked how he knew after four days he wanted to sign long-term.
He explained further that he feels that the Vancouver Canucks have a bright future and that the expectations to win and go far into the Stanley Cup Playoffs makes him excited about being here long-term.
"Expectations are high. It's a young, hungry group. Looking to win every game we can and looking to go far in the playoffs," says Marcus Pettersson.
Says that the high expectations went into his decision to sign long-term.
Cleary his teammates are feel the same way about him as he feels about them as he told reporters that Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser have been extremely welcoming to him.
