Allvin added the pieces he needed via free agency, but just like any GM, he's always open to the idea of improving his roster, especially when it comes to high-end talent. It's a whole different scenario in Carolina, two weeks ago, insiders were extremely confident that the star winger Martin Necas would be traded by free agency and yet, it has not yet happened and the forward filed for contract arbitration.
The trade proposal sending Necas to just about every other NHL franchise came from everywhere. Given the Canucks' interest for top six wingers, a trade proposal linked the two clubs in a potential blockbuster trade. The proposed transaction sees Necas coming to Vancouver in exchange for two picks and Nils Hoglander:
- Martin Necas
TO CAROLINA
- Nils Hoglander
- 2026 1st Vancouver
- 2025 4th Vancouver
It would mean adding a legit top six force to the Canucks' top forward group, J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser and now Jake Debrusk. It would however, come at a great cost. Nils Hoglander has demonstrated what he was truly capable of this past season scoring over 20 goals and displaying his great forechecking and puck retrieval skills.
If the trade talks between the Canucks and the Hurricanes came up to that trade, should Allvin make it happen or hang up?
