With the Canucks offically eliminated from playoff contention with the Minnesota Wild's 8-7 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday, it's seems likely that star forward Brock Boeser will not sign an extension with Vancouver this off-seaon.

With a lack of contract extension talk, Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser will look to sign with another NHL team this off-season.

A Sportsnet staff writer reported on Friday that Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin listened to trade offers for Boeser at the NHL deadline in March, but said that team didn't show much interest.
Here's what Boeser told reporters when asked about a return to Vancouver next season.
"Honestly, it's unlikely at this point. It sucks, it's unfortunate. I'm just trying to play good hockey, and then I'll worry about everything after that. We all know it's been a roller coaster of a year. There's been a lot of different things." -Boeser

Taj also took to X explaining what Elliotte Friedman had to say on the 32 Thoughts podcast.
Elliotte on Boeser saying it's unlikely that he'll be back:
"I think he's heartbroken" (32 pod)
The 28-year-old forward has spent his entire nine-year NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks, who selected him 23rd overall in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Brock Boeser has tallied 204 goals and 229 assists for a total of 433 points over 550 career games with the Vancouver Canucks.
Fans also took to X and weighed in on Friedman's comments.
Canucks fans infantilize their players a little too much. They're big boys, they can handle moving cities and a couple questions about why they're not scoring.
I knew from Allvin's comments early in the season, that they thought Brock was too slow and they weren't going to resign him.
Swallow the pride and accept their offer if you want to stay here so bad
Boeser's strong start to the season was briefly derailed by a concussion that sidelined him for seven games in November. However, he's regained his form at a crucial time, helping the Canucks stay in the playoff hunt. Over the team's last 11 games, he's recorded seven goals and 11 points, providing a much-needed offensive spark.
With free agency looming, Boeser has chosen to block out the noise for now, deciding not to engage in contract discussions with his agent, Ben Hankinson, until the season concludes. The situation has become enough of a distraction that he's putting all focus on finishing the year strong.
The Canucks will be at home on Saturday to face the Minnesota Wild and then just 2 games left to close out their disappointing season.
There's a good chance that Boeser will play his final game in a Canucks' jersey next week.
