Free Agency is a little less than three months away and the Vancouver Canucks could have plenty of options to address a pressing need down the middle.

Leading up to the National Hockey League's trade deadline in March, the Vancouver Canucks were looking for center help, specifically to fill the 2C hole that was left by J.T. Miller's departure.
When the NHL's free agency window opens at 9 am PT on Tuesday, July 1st, there's no question that Patrik Allvin will continue to evaluate his options and hopefully, sign someone to fill that role.

Dallas Stars forward emerges as potential free agent option

There won't be a shortage of options for the Vancouver Canucks on the free agent market this summer, depending on who makes it to July 1st and whether or not they're re-signed by their current team prior to that date.
One intriguing option comes from Dallas and after Sekeres and Price put out a poll asking which Stars forward would be a better fit in Vancouver, Jeff Paterson of Rink Wide: Vancouver weighed in saying Matt Duchene.
Paterson says that Matt Duchene, who turned 34 back in January, would likely remain in Dallas or go to another contender this summer as his time to win a Stanley Cup is running out.
However, if he were to leave the Stars and come to somewhere like Vancouver for example, the Canucks would have to throw a ton of money at him.
"of these 3, Duchene all day. But at 34, he's likely looking to stay in Dallas or jump to another contender. Time winding down on his chance to win. Would likely need to dangle a bunch of dough to get him to consider" Paterson said.
Duchene, a native of Haliburton, Ontario, is having one of the best seasons of his 16-year career in the National Hockey League, which could bode well for him on the free agent market, if he opts to leave Dallas.
In 79 games this season, Duchene has tallied 81 points (30 goals, 51 assists), ten penalty minutes and is a plus-15.
One area Duchene has struggled during his tenure with the Dallas Stars is in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as last year he had only two goals and six points in 19 games.
If the Stars are going to go on a deep run this year and potentially to their second Stanley Cup Final since 2020, they'll need Duchene to produce at the same rate he's been during the regular season.
