Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has come out to publicly state he does not want Head Coach Rick Tocchet returning as their leader behind the bench next season if he is not fully committed.
Amidst what turned out to be a disastrous season for the Vancouver Canucks, there has been tons of speculation that head coach Rick Tocchet's desire to return next season is at an all-time low.
Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin likely to not exercise the Club option to keep Rick Tocchet
It is no secret that the Canucks want him back behind the bench, publicly stating on multiple occasions that this is their goal, but a recent report indicated that they may decide to bring him back even if he does not want to, which stirred up some drama.
But now, Allvin has come out and contradicted this statement, saying he does not want Rick Tocchet to return next season unless he is fully committed and wants t be here long-term.
Allvin doesn't commit to exercising club option on Tocchet if long-term deal can't be negotiated.
Mentions he wants a coach that wants to be here.
(Like I said when the Canucks first leaked this, there is a 0% chance they exercise the club option. It's extension or he's gone)
There has been enough toxicity and drama this season to last the Canucks a decade, and deciding to bring Tocchet back when he is not fully devoted would be another major mistake added to the long-list of mistakes Allvin has made in his tenure.
