Quinn Hughes puts himself in elite company in franchise history
It's been a season to remember for Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes and on Tuesday night, he put himself into some pretty elite company in franchise history.
Through a post on their social media accounts, the Canucks revealed that Quinn Hughes is the second player in franchise history to record 70 or more assists in a single season, joining another former captain, Henrik Sedin.
"Two of a kind.
With his 70th assist of the season last night, Quinn Hughes joins Henrik Sedin as the only #Canucks to do so in franchise history!"
Hughes, who has never been nominated for the Norris Trophy, is having a fantastic season thus far. In 76 games this season, he's recorded 86 points (16 goals, 70 assists), 38 penalty minutes and is a plus-39.
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs right around the corner, beginning in just over two weeks, Quinn Hughes will be relied on to play significant minutes and in all situations. Coming into Thursday, the Canucks are currently first in the Pacific Division and are lined up to face the Nashville Predators, who occupy the first wild card spot in the Western Conference. If that's who the Canucks end up playing, it'll be interesting to see how Hughes performs against their top line, which features Filip Forsberg.
