Rick Tocchet provide an update on Thatcher Demko
The Canucks have been without their starting netminder for almost a month now, and Thatcher Demko has not yet returned to the ice.
Allvin placed him on Long Term Injury Reserve a few days ago, guaranteeing that he won't be back until April 6th at the very least. Concerns had been raised regarding the star netminder's readiness for the playoffs, but every piece of information suggests that Demko will be back a few games before the end of the season.
Following practice, Rick Tocchet was asked to give an update on their star netminder's health. According to the most recent report, everyone is satisfied with Demko's progression as he's following schedule:
Tocchet says #Canucks are pleased with Demko's progression. On schedule or possibly even a little ahead of schedule. Hasn't been skating yet, but sounds like he's working out off ice with training staff. Wouldn't reveal target date for him to get back on the ice.
Prior to his injury, Demko was among the NHL's most played goaltender. In the starter's crease for 49 games this year, Demko showcased 34 wins, 5 shootouts and save 91.7% of the shots sent his way. To this date, he still figures as one of the league favourites for the Vezina (NHL Top Goaltender).
