There has been tons of speculation about former 40-goal scorer Brock Boeser returning to the Vancouver Canucks in the offseason, but before matching up against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, he basically confirmed he will not come back.

It is no surprise that it has been an insanely difficult year for the Vancouver Canucks, dealing with locker room rifts, injuries, contract negotiations and constant drama.

Brock Boeser opens up before his potential final games as a Vancouver Canuck

Now that the Canucks are not in the playoffs, it is now on to discussing and reporting on the future of some of their key players.
Ever since Brock Boeser was not signed nor traded at this years historic NHL trade deadline, the conclusion was that he was not going to remain a member of the Canucks for the 2025-2026 NHL season.
Unfortunately for fans, his fate has now basically been confirmed in his pre-game comments.
Boeser revealed emotionally ahead of their matchup with the Dallas Stars on Tuesday that he does not expect to return to the team once the season concludes, even stating it could be his final game in Vancouver.
Honestly, it's unlikely at this point,» he told us. «It sucks, it's unfortunate. I'm just trying to play good hockey, and then I'll worry about everything after that. We all know it's been a roller coaster of a year. There's been a lot of different things.»

«Yeah, I'm refusing to talk to Hank right now,» he said. «I feel like I'm playing a lot better hockey recently, and I don't want to get distracted. That's one of the things I've learned: when there's distractions, I don't play my best hockey. The mental aspect of the game is so important. This year, there's been a lot of distractions.»
Although a down year for the forward, it has been a down year for the entire team, but his potential to be an elite goal scorer has already been proven when he netted 40 goals in 2024.
Obviously, there is a lot of time between now and when the decision will be made to sign back with the Canucks, but as it stands right now, it appears that he does not have the desire to remain where he feels he is unwanted.
