Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin reportedly wants star forward Elias Pettersson to remain in the city throughout the summer to prepare for next season.

It's been a tough season for Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson due to a number of factors including a lack of offensive production, a reported feud with J.T. Miller and an injury, which he sustained against the New York Rangers back on March 22nd.
Coming into the 2024-25 season, Elias Pettersson was still dealing with a nagging knee injury that affected his ability to train last summer.

Vancouver Canucks reportedly hoping Elias Pettersson remains in city this summer

Patrik Allvin recently sat down for an interview with Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet where he shared that he would like to see Elias Pettersson stay in Vancouver to train for the 2025-26 season.
Allvin said that the Canucks have the resources to help the Swedish forward get back to his normal self and hopefully, return to the elite player that he's been in seasons past.
"We have the right resources here to help him. Listen, he has the ability to dictate the future, and I'm sure he wants to come back to his normal (form) and wants to continue to grow and get better. So we have absolutely the commitment and resources here to help him do that." Allvin said to Iain MacIntyre.

While the Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks hope that Elias Pettersson takes their advice and stays to train, it cannot be mandated by the club due to the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) due to the players' right to have summer vacation.
Pettersson, 26, is unlikely to play again this season due to his injury, which is unfortunate after being one of the team's top forwards throughout March, registering ten points (four goals, six assists) in 11 games.
If his season is indeed over, the Sundsvall, Sweden native finishes the year with 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a minus-ten.
