Spittin' Chiclets' Paul Bissonnette Holds Nothing Back in Explicit Criticism of Elias Pettersson
On the most recent episode of Spittin' Chiclets, The crew which includes former NHLers Paul "Biz" Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney, Biz decided to hop on the train of criticism and shared his beliefs on what is wrong with Elias Pettersson, and what he needs to do to turn his season around.
He mentioned that for a guy getting paid $11.6 million, he is missing a lot of the elements that make superstars, superstars. He wants to see him be tough, and way more aggressive in his attitude, because he knows that Pettersson has the other skills needed to be a superstar.
"You gotta get to a point where something snaps, something switches.» Bissonnette said. «And if that switch goes off, he'll be a beast because he can skate like the wind. He's got an incredible shot. Skills are out the yin yang. What I think is missing in him is that dog. And when you pay a guy 11 and a half million, he f**king better have there somewhere inside of him."
As a career point-per-game player, Elias Pettersson has looked like a shell of himself this season. He has 3 points and a +/- of -3 in 10 games this season, and his body language and effort on the ice indicates there is something either physically or mentally wrong.
"It might take a few more years to untap, but it better be in there. So I look forward to seeing those." - Bissonnette
At the end of the day, Pettersson needs to ignore all the outside noise and find his confidence again, because to be getting paid the most on the team, and to play not even close to it, has lasting effects, he needs to figure it out before it gets really out of hand.
