It was a season to remember for Vancouver Canucks forward Dakota Joshua as he set new career highs in goals, assists and points, which earned him a significant pay raise at the end of the season. A few days before Joshua was set to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent, the Canucks re-signed him to a four-year contract worth $13 million ($3.25 million AAV).
Not only was Joshua helping offensively, but every night, he punished his opponents physically, which allowed him to amass well over 200 hits during the 2023-24 campaign.
In a post on social media on Sunday, Sportsnet shared the top-ten hit leaders from the 2023-24 season, and Vancouver Canucks forward Dakota Joshua came in at ninth with 244 hits. Joshua's 244 hits were 139 less than last season's leader, Jeremy Lauzon of the Nashville Predators, who had 383.
All Canucks fans are looking forward to seeing what Dakota Joshua has in store for the 2024-25 campaign, as Rick Tocchet will be relying on him heavily in a third-line role but could see some time on the penalty kill, potentially the second powerplay unit, too after finishing last season with sixth-most goals on the team (18).
