Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks have announced a number of roster moves ahead of Friday's clash with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Vancouver Canucks are set to return to Rogers Arena on Friday night to begin a six-game homestand but they'll do so without the services of Czech defenseman Filip Hronek.

Hronek suffered an injury during last Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh and is set to miss eight weeks, the team announced on Tuesday.

"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Filip Hronek underwent a successful lower body procedure and will not require surgery on his upper body injury. Hronek will be out approximately eight weeks." the Canucks said.

Vancouver Canucks announce multiple roster moves

In a post on X on Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they've called up top prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki and defenseman Cole McWard from the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks.

They also shared that they've placed Filip Hronek on long-term injured reserve (LTIR), retroactive to November 27th and after that move was completed, called up Max Sasson from the AHL.

"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today the following roster moves:

- F Jonathan Lekkerimäki and D Cole McWard have been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL).

- D Filip Hronek has been placed on LTIR retroactive to November 27, 2024, and following this transaction, F Max Sasson was recalled from Abbotsford." the Canucks said.

Lekkerimaki and Sasson have both gotten a taste of the National Hockey League this season, with the team's top prospect scoring in his second career game, while the latter has two assists in five games.

As for Cole McWard, this is his first call-up to the National Hockey League during the 2024-25 season after appearing in six games over the last two campaigns.

In 21 games for Abbotsford this season, McWard has six points (one goal, five assists), two penalty minutes and is a minus-two.

Puck drop for tomorrow night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets is set for 7 pm PT and can be viewed on Sportsnet Pacific.
