On Saturday, the team placed 24 year old center Nils Aman on waivers and according to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman - the odds of him passing through waivers were low.
However the Canucks and their fans were happy to see as of Sunday afternoon the depth forward surprisingly went unclaimed.
With teams like the Colorado Avalanche, who originally drafted Aman back in 2020, depleted by injuries to forwards up and down their lineup, fans were truly shocked to see the useful depth forward pass through waivers.
Aman is a solid two-way player who can kill penalties and chip in a bit of offence at the NHL level, and he will likely step in as one of Abbotsford's very best forwards.
In 15 games with the AHL club last season, Aman put up 8 goals and 7 assists in 15 games.
With Aman joining the Abbotsford Canucks, an already solid team led by young forwards like Aatu Raty, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, and Danila Klimovich receive even more help up front.
Aman will be expected to step into a prominent role with the team, and with so much depth currently at the AHL level, anything short of a Calder Cup run may be considered a failure for a strong Abbotsford squad.
With young players continuing to move up Vancouver's organizational depth chart, Aman may be in tough to find his way back to an NHL job in B.C.
