When you're making as much money as Elias Pettersson is starting this season, there's going to be a lot of expectations placed on you and after the struggles he had between October and the end of February, it's great to see him
turning things around and contributing offensively for Vancouver.
Pettersson is currently on a four-game point streak and has points in five of his last six games, including four goals, helping Vancouver to wins over Minnesota, Calgary and Chiacgo.
Patrik Allvin shares his thoughts on Elias Pettersson's 2024-25 season
During a recent interview with Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin shared how he felt about Elias Pettersson's season thus far.
Allvin praised Pettersson's play of late and gave him credit for taking full responsibility for his struggles this season
when speaking with reporters a few days before the NHL's trade deadline, adding that it was a big step for the Swedish forward.
"I give him credit. When he addressed the media a couple of weeks ago and took ownership of it, I think that was a big step for him. He understands what he needs to work on. This league is a humbling league. Every day is an opportunity to get better. When you figure that out, you see the results. Lately, you can tell that he's been working on his game, and the results are coming." Allvin said to Pierre LeBrun.
He added, "We all know there's a whole other level of his talent level to reach, but I think he understands what he needs to be in order to get back there."
Pettersson's recent hot streak is a great sign for the Vancouver Canucks and couldn't come at a more perfect time as they continue to battle for a wild card position in the Western Conference, which they currently occupy as of Tuesday morning.
In 61 games this season, Pettersson has put up 42 points (15 goals, 27 assists), 14 penalty minutes and is a minus-12.
Everyone knows what Elias Pettersson is capable of when he's at the top of his game, especially after being above a point-per-game the last two season and now, the Canucks need to see him continue the way he's playing recently to help them return to the playoffs for the second year in a row.
