Quinn Hughes officially registered the 400th point of his NHL career on Saturday against the New York Rangers, continuing his astronomical climb up the list of all time scoring defensemen both in the Vancouver Canucks franchise, and the entire NHL
Quinn Hughes less than 10 points away from Canucks franchise lead
With his 400th point coming by assisting on a
Dakota Joshua goal on Saturday, Hughes moved just 9 points away from sole possession of the Canucks franchise lead for points by defensemen.
Alex Edler currently holds the mantle, scoring 99 goals and 310 points in 925 games with the Canucks to hold the franchise lead.
Hughes, currently playing in his 421st NHL game, is on pace to SHATTER that points record in nearly 500 less games played.
Quinn Hughes next point will be his 400th in #NHL. He's now 10 back of Alex Edler for franchise all-time lead among defenders. 13 games to get there this season. Roughly 500 fewer games
Hughes has been providing offense since the day he stepped into the league -literally- assisting on a
Brock Boeser goal in his NHL debut.
The Canucks captain has been nearly a point per game in his NHL career, and well above that in the last two seasons.
With 12 games to go following the conclusion of Saturday's match against the Rangers, it's conceivable that we could see Hughes snatch the all time franchise lead before the end of the season.
A remarkable feat for the Canucks captain and best player, who continues to do everything he can to drag the team into a second straight playoff appearance.
