Vancouver Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood is on Pace to Obliterate the Single Season NHL Hit Record
While the Vancouver Canucks offseason signing of Kiefer Sherwood may not have turned many heads at the time, the physical winger is doing everything he can to change that through 16 games this season.
Sherwood is not only among the league leaders in hits, but leading the entire NHL with 100 through 16 games - a pace of 512 in an 82 game season if he keeps it up.
The Hockey News' Adam Kierszenblat highlighted the torrid pace, sharing that some longtime NHLers have yet to even reach the 100 hit milestone in their entire career.
While players like Jack Hughes and Troy Terry certainly aren't known for their physicality, the sheer difference shows how incredible Sherwood's pace is.
The feisty forward is 13 hits above the next closest peer, his former teammate Jeremy Lauzon.
Sherwood facing former team tonight
Kiefer Sherwood will
face his former team for the first time, where he'll look to add to his already ridiculous hit total.
Sherwood is ready to have a big game tonight and has something to prove to the team that let him walk.
If he continues his hitting pace, he could break the all time league record since the stat has been recorded
