Vancouver Canucks make history in Toronto after making fans boo the Maple Leafs out of the building
The Vancouver Canucks make franchise history tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Scotiabank Arena.
The Vancouver Canucks may of had a late start to their road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but it did not effect the result one bit.
After their loss to the Carolina Hurricanes last night (Jan 10th), the Canucks got bad news as they were delayed in Carolina trying to leave for Toronto, which resulted in them having to travel on game day...Not ideal.
Despite the hurdle, head coach told his team that they are no excuses to why they can't still perform to the best of their ability.
"Yeah, we got in a little bit late this afternoon... but you can't use it as an
excuse."
The Speech must of had a major effect as the Vancouver Canucks made history in their win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Vancouver Canucks shutout the Toronto Maple Leafs for the first time
As the Canucks may have been running on fewer hours of sleep, their play was not as they made history in Scotiabank Arena, shutting out the Toronto Maple Leafs for the first time while playing on the road.
To make matters worse for the Maple Leafs, the fans, who play top dollar to see a highly anticipated all-Canadian matchup against the Canucks boo'd their home team out of the arena.
hat lack of effort is what appears to have rubbed fans the wrong way, with a loud chorus of boos audible from the crowd both towards the end of the second period as well as in the final several minutes of the game. - Jonathan Larivee
Although big props have to go to Vancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen for earning the shutout, the Leafs did not test him much, only recorded 20 shots on net, which is where the frustration is seen by the fans.
All in all, it was a great performance for the Canucks, and head coach Rick Tocchet was quite pleased about hat he saw out of his team after the craziness they endured.
